Fibers - Yarns - Rovings
The ‘hair’ of the alpaca is called fleece or fiber rather than fur or wool. Alpaca fleece is the natural fiber harvested from an alpaca. It is light or heavy in weight, depending on how it is spun. The alpaca fiber is strong, warm and comfortable. Each fiber is hollow which makes it incredibly light and provides its insulating properties. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fiber. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.
Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite. Alpaca’s greatest feature is that it can be worn next to the skin comfortably. Alpaca fleece has 22 natural shades ranging from black to silver and rose-grey and white, from mahogany brown to light fawn and champagne. Alpacas can be bred for specific color. We process raw fiber into beautiful high quality rovings and yarns in a wide array of colors—all available for sale.
